The Indian team had a very successful 2013. Barring the One-Day International and Test series losses in South Africa towards the end of the year, the Indian team won every single ODI competition they participated in and also established a record streak of six Test wins in a row, albeit all at home.

In recent times, the trend of home team superiority has been established quite strongly. In the Ashes this year, England thrashed Australia mid-year at home, but the Australians returned the favour by the end of the year in Australia. India too won a record six Tests at home, including a 4-0 win over the Australians after losing in Australia by a similar margin in 2011-12.

However, the biggest event of the year was the retirement of Sachin Tendulkar. But though Tendulkar has been synonymous with numbers throughout his career, he did not feature in any of the lists below.

The tables illustrate the performances of teams and individuals in Tests, ODIs and Twenty20 Internationals through the year, before combining the three for an overall summary. India, having played just one T20I this year, didn’t make it to the T20I team list, but they topped the ODI table and came second in Tests and, hence, were the overall No. 1 team for the year.

MS Dhoni featured in every list, underlining his contribution in India’s successes. Virat Kohli, R Ashwin & Ravindra Jadeja were the other Indians who featured prominently in the tables.

The most prolific batsman and bowler this year in all international cricket were AB de Villiers (2181 runs) and Saeed Ajmal (111 wickets) respectively, while the best allrounder of the year was Mohammad Hafeez with a tally of 1726 runs and 40 wickets.
