Shoaib Akhtar, Pakistan’s former paceman, heaped praise on Virat Kohli, saying he was better off not bowling at the Indian batting star during his career.

The comments came in response to Kohli’s recent interview, in which he termed Akhtar and Mohammad Irfan as the “most frightening” bowlers he came across in international cricket.

While Kohli faced Irfan a number of times, he did not face Akhtar in the one match he played against him.

Later in a television show, Akhtar complimented Kohli, saying the Indian captain is a delight to watch.

“Virat Kohli is a great batsman and is a brilliant achiever,” said Akhtar. “I have come across a number of Indian players and had a very friendly relationship with Sourav (Ganguly) and Virender Sehwag so it’s a mutual admiration.”
