Toss: Mashrafe Mortaza, the Bangladesh captain, won the toss and opted to bowl in the second of three One-Day Internationals against South Africa at Boland Park in Paarl on Wednesday (October 18).
South Africa: David Miller is out injured and Farhaan Behardien comes in his place.
Bangladesh: Tamim Iqbal returns after missing the first game due to a muscle strain. He replaces Mohammad Saifuddin.
Series: Bangladesh were without Tamim and Mushtafizur Rahman for the first match, which they lost by 10 wickets. With the experienced opener’s return, they look better equipped in the batting department. Mushfiqur Rahim, who scored an unbeaten 110 in the opener, was in doubt for the second contest after pulling his hamstring, but he has recovered for the crucial tie that Bangladesh must win to keep the series alive. South Africa had chased down a target of 279 without breaking sweat on the back of unbeaten centuries from Quinton de Kock and Hashim Amla, the openers.
Conditions: It’s cold in Paarl, with a real threat of rain. The pitch is expected to play true with decent help for bowlers throughout the day. Conditions should help the pacemen early in the day.
