Eta Northerns Head Coach JP Triegaardt says his side is raring to go ahead of their opening Africa T20 Cup fixture against North West, at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom, tomorrow.
Having missed out on the play-offs last year after an unfortunate loss against Northern Cape on the Duckworth/Lewis method, the newly appointed coach will be aiming to repeat the feat of 2015, when Northerns went on to win the competition.
“The team has prepared well during the last six weeks. We had a very positive training camp in Potchefstroom, where we played 10 warm-up matches. Our focus now will be to get our campaign off to a winning start,” said Triegaardt.
Captained by Thomas Kaber, Northerns boast a good blend of youth and experience, with Rivaldo Moonsamy Migael Pretorius, who returns from an impressive tour of Zimbabwe with the SA Emerging team, and the newly-sign Andrea Agathangelou named in the squad.
Northerns is also proud to continue their partnership with eta College as the naming partner for the Africa T20 Cup, which will extend itself for the duration of the upcoming season. Meanwhile, Gary Nicols has been named the official clothing sponsor.
Johan Muller, Northerns Cricket Operations Manager, said: “Both parties have the same values and ambition, which makes this a very good fit. We are thrilled to have eta College sign on for another two years
“We are also very proud of partnering with Gray Nicols as our new clothing sponsor. Gray Nicols stands for quality, which can clearly be seen by the clothing provided.”
Northerns will take on Gauteng and the defending champions, Eastern Cape, on Saturday and Sunday respectively, with both matches being broadcasted on SuperSport 12.
