Kolkata Knight Riders held their nerve to clinch a seven-run win over Kings XI Punjab on Wednesday (May 4).

Glenn Maxwell edged Andre Russell by the narrowest of margins to finish as the highest impact player of the match.

Maxwell’s 42-ball-68 came under testing circumstances – KXIP were reeling at 13 for 3 in 3.1 overs when he took to the crease. He proceeded to steady the chase, building partnerships in the process. By absorbing pressure and getting his team close to the target, he pipped Russell for the top Impact honours. Maxwell also had Fielding Impact for contributing to Gautam Gambhir’s run out.

While Russell wasn’t able to reprise his batting heroics from the previous game, he starred with the ball – claiming four top/middle-order wickets in the night’s most economical spell (4 for 20 in four overs). He had Fielding Impact too for running out Axar Patel.

Based on the performances of both teams, Kolkata had a 37% higher impact than Punjab in the match. While they had three players who failed in the match, the visitors were abysmal with as many as eight failures.
