What they said
Zaheer Khan: It’s been a mixed season. Looks like a good wicket. We would have also batted first. When you are bowling to Kohli or Gayle, you have to be motivated enough or else it is difficult. We will try to chase down whatever target we have. It’s a surprise; we are unchanged from the last match but that’s how it is.
Virat Kohli: It looks like a pretty dry wicket, breaking up already. We expect it to slow down during the course of 20 overs. We expect to put a good score. Every game of cricket is an opportunity to express your skill-set. We want to end on a high. As a cricketer, you always feel high when you win. We want to make an impact one last time because we don’t know next year where we will be. We have three internationals. Lots have flown back home and lots are not fit. We have managed to put out XI players who are fit.
Tournament: This is the final first-round game of Indian Premier League 2017. Both teams are out of the race for the playoffs, with Mumbai Indians, Rising Pune Supergiant, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders having confirmed the top-four spots.
Bangalore, who have five points so far, are consigned to finish with the wooden spoon. Delhi are sixth on the points table with six wins in 13 games. A win will take them to 14 points, and if they can better their run-rate, then they could jump ahead of Kings XI Punjab to finish fifth.
Delhi had started their campaign with a loss to Bangalore, falling short by 15 runs in a chase of 158. Bangalore are playing after a break of six days.
Conditions: The temperature in the morning was 40 degrees, but it will get cooler in the evening. The humidity is 22%. The last few games at the venue have favoured the batsmen.
Delhi Daredevils: Sanju Samson, Karun Nair, Rishabh Pant (wk), Shreyas Iyer, Marlon Samuels, Corey Anderson, Shahbaz Nadeem, Pat Cummins, Mohammed Shami, Amit Mishra, Zaheer Khan (capt).
Royal Challengers Bangalore: Virat Kohli (capt), Chris Gayle, Vishnu Vinod, Travis Head, Kedar Jadhav, Sachin Baby, Shane Watson, Pawan Negi, Harshal Patel, Avesh Khan, Yuzvendra Chahal.
