Joe Dawborn, a 21-year-old club cricketer, took all ten wickets to fall in an innings in the Northants Premier League on Saturday (July 25).

Dawborn, who bowls right-arm medium-fast, achieved the feat, playing for Peterborough Town against Brixworth. His figures of 10 for 22 are the best in the tournament in 47 years. Dawborn’s previous best effort in the league was 6 for 11.

Dawborn’s spell helped his team crush Brixworth by 158 runs. He had six batsmen bowled, two trapped leg before, while two were caught. His effort also helped him shoot up to the top of the table of leading wicket-takers for the season.

“It was magical. I was bowling at the other end and every time he delivered a ball it looked like he’d get a wicket,” Jamie Smith, Dawborn’s teammate, told BBC Sport. “He’s just a different class.”

When not playing cricket, Dawborn works for his father as a labourer.
