Bhuvneshwar, Dhawan out of second Test
Bowler won’t be considered for third Test as well after he puts in a request; uncapped Vijay Shankar called up as replacement
In the 2004 Under-19 World Cup in Bangladesh, Shikhar Dhawan carted the bowling around for 505 runs from seven games that included three centuries and was named the player of the tournament. But it took a long while for him to graduate to the senior level after that. He marked his maiden Test appearance against Australia in Mohali in 2013 by recording the fastest century by a debutant, but his technique on the offside has been significantly exposed in overseas conditions in recent times. A muscular left-hand batsman and a fun-loving character, Dhawan was at the top of the batting charts during India’s 2013 Champions Trophy triumph, but a slump in form has raised questions over his place in the side.
