    Profile

If you were to take a popularity poll in the South African squad, Quinton de Kock would appear high up on that list.

Despite the fact that AB de Villiers likes playing gloveman for the team, de Kock is touted as the most successful wicketkeeper to come out of South Africa since Mark Boucher, known not only for his skills behind the wicket but also in front of it.

On his way to a regular spot in the senior team, he was captain of the South Africa Under-19 squad, and got people to sit up and take notice after his Champions League T20 showing for Highveld Lions in 2012.

Since his ODI debut in January 2013 against New Zealand, he has had a great run, becoming the joint fastest to reach 1000 runs in the format – he shares the honour with Viv Richards, Kevin Pietersen and Jonathan Trott, all reaching the milestone in 21 innings. He has shown the ability to convert starts to big scores, and is the fifth person to get three ODI centuries in consecutive games.

He made his Test debut against Australia in February 2014.
