Bharghav Bhatt is a lanky left arm spinner who made his Ranji Trophy debut for Baroda against Maharashtra in December 2009, when he was just 19 years old, but it was his second season performance that grabbed the headlines. He took 47 wickets and topped the Ranji bowling charts for 2010-11 and was instrumental in Baroda’s journey to the final. Another five wickets for West Zone in the Duleep Trophy gave him a cumulative 52 wickets in the season, and that was enough for him to earn an IPL contract with Kings XI Punjab in 2011. He vindicated the franchisee’s faith with a man of the match performance of 2.5-0-22-4 against Mumbai Indians in a league match.
