    Profile

Son of Geoff Marsh and brother of Shaun, Mitchell Marsh is among the youngest debutants in the history of Western Australian cricket, and has been a prominent member of the state side since he first played for them in 2009. He did his family and country proud when he led the Australian Under-19 team to victory in the 2010 Youth World Cup in New Zealand, earning his international cap a year later. Marsh is capable of striking the cricket ball long and hard, while also providing his team with accurate and reasonably quick seam bowling. His good showing led to a selection in Australia’s limited-overs squads in 2011. Marsh shone on his international debut in a Twenty20 match against South Africa, hitting Morne Morkel for three sixes in the final over. Marsh had come to the notice of those beyond Australian shores too, being recruited by Deccan Chargers in the IPL, and later being picked up by Pune Warriors India – a side coached by father Geoff – in the 2011 auctions. A stress injury in his back in early 2012, sustained while playing for Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League, meant that Marsh couldn’t take part in the CB Series or IPL 2012.
