    Profile

    A street-smart cricketer, Meerut-born Bhuvneshwar Kumar has come a long way since the 2008-09 Ranji Trophy final when he became the first bowler to dismiss Sachin Tendulkar for a duck in domestic cricket. His self-discipline, ability to swing the ball sharply and gritty attitude with the bat lower down the order has made him a frontline choice in the Indian team across all formats. He played a key role in India making it to the 2014 World Twenty20 final and his Test credits rose significantly during the subsequent England tour. At Lord’s, he made 36 and 52 and picked up six wickets in England’s first innings to set up a famous win. Even though India lost the series, Bhuvneshwar held more than his own, as he ended as his team’s best bowler with 19 wickets to add to his 247 runs. In the IPL, he shares the new ball with Dale Steyn for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
