Muralidharen Gautam made his first-class debut for Karnataka as an opener in a Ranji Trophy match against Uttar Pradesh in 2008. He soon replaced Thilak Naidu as the team’s first-choice wicketkeeper and has made steady progress both in front and behind the stumps since then, scoring over 1000 runs in his second and third first-class seasons and effecting 62 dismissals. His good show also earned him a call-up for the South Zone Duleep Trophy team. He was picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore for the IPL.
