Karnataka skipper says team is flexible with players shuttling between state and national duties
A technically solid batsman, the Mangalore-born KL Rahul grabbed headlines when he made a century in only his second Test match, against Australia in Sydney in January 2015. That he rose so fast was largely because of the splendid run he had in the domestic circuit in 2013-14 that eventuated in Karnataka winning the Ranji Trophy for the first time in 15 years. His 1033 runs in the campaign and the twin centuries in the 2014-15 Duleep Trophy final for South Zone against Central Zone made him an automatic choice for the third opener’s slot for the Australian tour. Once back from the Test series, Rahul hit a massive 337 for Karnataka against Uttar Pradesh, the first triple century in first-class cricket for Karnataka.
