    Profile

A year after making his first-class debut in 2008 and establishing himself as a young paceman to watch out for, Sreenath Aravind was part of a road accident that could well have nipped his career in the bud. But it’s a testament to the youngster’s will and ambition that he not only overcame the setback, but came out of it even stronger than before. Evidence of that was the 2010-11 Ranji Trophy, where he ended up as Karnataka’s second-highest wicket taker with 26 scalps to complement the ten wickets he bagged in the Duleep Trophy for South Zone. Royal Challengers Bangalore subsequently drafted him into their squad for the 2011 edition. He repaid the franchise's faith, taking 21 wickets from 13 games, an effort that went a long way in him finding a place in the national one-day international squad for the home series against England the same year.
