Uthappa severs ties with Karnataka, joins Saurashtra
After 15-year run with the state of his birth, aggressive batsman switches allegiance ahead of 2017-18 season
Jaydev Shah is a technically sound left-hand batsman who has been one of the lynchpins of Saurashtra’s batting in the Indian domestic circuit for over a decade now. His average isn’t staggering, but his ability to play for time has been decisive in the team’s consistent showing in the domestic circuit. Under his leadership, Saurasthra won the 2007-08 Ranji one-day competition – the team’s first ever national title. Shah also led India A on a tour to Israel in 2008, which India A won 3-0. He is the son of former BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah.
