Vijay returns to Test squad for first two games against Sri Lanka as Abhinav misses the bus
With a triple-century before the age of 20, a quadruple-century opening-wicket partnership with M. Vijay in the same first-class match against Maharashtra and centuries on Ranji and Irani trophy debuts, it is safe to say Abhinav Mukund has a knack for scoring big. The left-handed top-order batsman is prolific through the off-side and despite perceived problems with the on-side, has averaged 60 after four seasons in first-class cricket with Tamil Nadu. It made him the natural choice to open after regulars Virender Sehwag and Gautham Gambhir were injured for the Test tour of West Indies in 2011. A decent showing earned him a spot in the tour of England, later that year, where he was the reserve opener. However, he hasn't played an international test since that 4-0 whitewash at England. Mukund plays for the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League.
