  Commentary

  • That's it, thank you for joining us. It has been a pleasure. Goodnight everyone.

  • Bhuvneshwar Kumar: The heartbeat is still pounding. T20 is a format where you expect the unexpected and Manan almost took the game away from us. Athletes always talk about believing in themselves and that's what I did in the 19th over. I have overcome that pressure because I have done this job for SRH for the last three years. I knew I had to bowl the 19th over, the match-defining over. I believed in myself. I bowled the 16th over, he was in good nick. It wasn't an easy wicket, it was a great effort from our batsmen to take us to 160. The way we started with the new ball was tremendous. Changing pace really worked for us. If you want to win the match defending 160 you have to take initial wickets, and we did that.

  • Player of the match - Bhuvneshwar Kumar

  • David Warner: An unbelievable game of cricket. Credit to Manan, the way he played. I was down when I played on that wicket. Credit to Bhuvi too, he was unbelievable tonight. He made it look easy when he was clearing the ropes. But unfortunately there has to be one winner and it was us. I back all my bowlers, but when you've got Bhuvi in the sheds, I back him. Fantastic contribution from both of the Afghanistan players. As I keep reiterating to the boys, it's really important to win these close games, it gives you a huge confidence.

  • Glenn Maxwell: An outstanding game, made by great innings by Vohra. Unfortunately, he didn't have help from the rest of us. It was definitely chase-able. We did well in the middle with the ball but let is slip in the last over. To play an innings like that in a losing cause is criminal. He's a superstar. A big score like that was around the corner for him and we told him not to get frustrated with the 20s and 30s he was getting. We knew Bhuvi was going to swing it around a bit at the start. We didn't expect the wicket to be so up and down and he bowled good lengths tonight. We had planned for him and Rashid, but giving seven wickets to them probably did us in. We wanted to take off and get 60 in the Powerplay, but it didn't come off this time. I let myself down as well with the batting but the way the guys scrapped was brilliant. Hopefully, we could keep doing it ahead as well.

  • What the hell did we just witness? Who said Mondays are dull? Vohra played one of the best innings we have ever seen in the history of the IPL but fall short to Bhuvi's brilliant effort with the ball. The next best score to Vohra's 95 was 13 and that shows how dominating he was but at the end it was Bhuvi, who did the job for his side.

  • David Warner: It is disappointing that we lost two games. But we are back home and we have to start fresh tonight. Both teams have lost back-to-back. For us it is about being positive. We have got four changes: Nabi makes his debut and so does Siddharth Kaul. Barinder Sran is back from injury and will play tonight. Ben Cutting misses out.

  • Glenn Maxwell: We are going to have a bowl first. We prefer chasing and you saw how we played in the first two games. Hopefully, we do the same tonight. It just comes to everyone executing their skills and that will be our main focus today. We have got just one change: Ishant comes in for Aaron.

  • The temperature has been soaring in Hyderabad, with the mercury touching 42°C over the past couple of days, but come Monday, and the ever-enthusiastic fans in orange are likely to fill up the stands once again for what is expected to be an enthralling encounter. Preview:

  • IPL 10 Match 19 Hyderabad v Punjab

Glenn Maxwell has a lot of things to fix as they travel to the defending champions den to try and get their campaign back on track

  • Hyderabad’s sturdy top-order, comprising David Warner, Shikhar Dhawan, Moises Henriques and Yuvraj Singh, each of whom has had at least one solid knock in the tournament already, will not make things easier for Punjab’s bowlers, who will have to figure a way out to strike during the Power Play overs without letting the game get away from them.

  • For Punjab, their ineffective bowling has been the biggest problem, and the captain has had to use as many as six or even seven bowlers occasionally to complete the 20-over quota. All of Punjab’s pacers – Sandeep Sharma, Ishant Sharma, Varun Aaron, Mohit Sharma, Marcus Stoinis and T Natarajan – who have played so far have conceded runs at over eight per over, leaving Axar Patel with the major workload of restricting the scoring and picking up wickets.

  • Glenn Maxwell, the Kings XI Punjab captain, was not a happy man after his team wilted against Delhi Daredevils to lose their second match on the trot despite starting their campaign with two impressive wins. Interestingly, Hyderabad have gone exactly the same way as Punjab, winning their first two games at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal with conviction and then going down twice – against Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders – playing away from home.
