Sri Lanka clinched the Tri-Nation Under-19 Limited Overs Cricket Tournament when they trounced South Africa by 77 runs in the final encounter played at Paarl, South Africa on Saturday (28).
The home side was shot out for just 79 runs in 32.4 overs after Sri Lanka had made a modest 156 from 44.5 overs having elected to bat first.
The match winner for Sri Lanka was 17-year-old paceman Nipun Ransika who returned sensational figures of five wickets for 19 from 7.4 overs.
He did the initial damage by claiming the first three wickets and then added the finishing touches by capturing the last two wickets of the South African innings to complete a memorable game.
He was also named Man of the Match and Man of the Series having captured a total of 17 wickets in this tournament which also featured Zimbabwe as the third team.
Earlier, Sri Lanka put up a disappointing batting performance and collapsed to 156 in 44.5 overs with number seven batsman Ashen Bandara making a top score of 33.
