Rohit Sharma has cleared the yo-yo test and is set to travel to the United Kingdom for the limited-overs series against Ireland and England, the Indian opener confirmed on Wednesday (June 20) through his social media pages.

The yo-yo test, which is mandatory for the selection to the India and India A squads, has become a much-debated topic in recent times. All the other players in the India squad for the UK tour took the test on June 15, but Rohit had taken special permission to take the same on a later date due to sponsor commitments in Russia ahead of the football World Cup.

With Ambati Rayudu failing the test on June 15 and subsequently losing his One-Day International spot to Suresh Raina, there were speculations in sections of the media surrounding the fairness in giving Rohit the extra time. There were even reports that Rohit was given another chance after allegedly failing the test during the Indian Premier League.

Rohit, however, quashed those rumours saying he took the test only once and followed the protocol set by the board.
