Star India Private Limited have won the right for audio-visual production services for the 2018 season of the Indian Premier League, the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced on Monday (February 19). This is in addition to them also having grabbed the global media rights last year.

In September 2017, Star India won the global media rights for a five-year period between 2018 and 2022 with a consolidated bid of Rs 16,347.5 crore. Sony Pictures had held the rights for the first ten years of the IPL.

According to a press release from the BCCI, Star India have also won the production rights for the next domestic season as well. The Indian board added that they reserved the right to extend the term for both the IPL and domestic cricket by one more season, while also holding the discretionary power to give the company the same rights for IPL 2020 too.

The BCCI had invited Request for Proposal documents for the said purpose, the release added.
