  Commentary

  • And that's a wrap! Thank you folks for tuning in today. We look forward to having you again tomorrow. We bring you the match report before signing off. Good night!

  • Bumrah trumps Rahul Mumbai seal thriller

Pacer picks up 3 for 15 to keep Mumbai alive Rahuls 94 goes in vain

  • Jasprit Bumrah: The clarity is very important whenever you bowl at the death. If you are not clear and you are not backing yourself there is always doubt whenever you deliver. If you are changing your plans at the last moment then you are not clear. That is my basic plan, to have a good clarity. Rahul has been batting really well throughout the season. His wicket was very important. I tried to bowl a dipper and I was able to execute. It was a good day.

  • Player of the match - Jasprit Bumrah

  • R Ashwin:
Pretty blank at this point of time. We were in the chase all along, it was a professional batting performance. Just didn't work out in the end. It looked it was going to be a clinical romp but credit to Bumrah - once again proved what a good bowler he is. Credit to Rahul and Finch. It's very difficult to say what Rahul has done right or wrong - he's hardly mistimed a ball this season. We need a bit of luck to get through
    .
Rohit Sharma: Was an important game for us. We wanted to keep ourselves alive in the tournament. We played a perfect game and whatever we asked from the boys, they delivered. We could have ended up getting 10-15 runs more, those things happen and it has been happening for us for a number of times now. Leaving out Pollard was a tough decision. As a team, we thought now is the time to get him back. Taking nothing away from JP Duminy. We felt he was batting down the order and Pollard was a better option for us. He always stands up for us in the big games. Bumrah has come a long way in the past few years. It is never easy to come out and bowl like that. He might not be up in the wickets column but for us, what he does is very important. He comes out and bowls during the difficult times.

  • What a game of cricket! Fortunes of both teams swung like a pendulum. In the end, it was Mumbai Indians who held their nerve to earn a three-run win which has kept them alive in the competition. Both Mumbai and Punjab are tied on 12 points each but the former have a better net run rate.

  Full commentary

  • Out come the Mumbai players. Gayle and Rahul are walking out too. Both would know the first six overs with the hard new ball will be crucial and will try to get as many runs as possible int he Power Play. Pace off the ball will be crucial in the middle overs as the ball is gripping and stopping at the Wankhede pitch. We have got a great game on our hands here!

  • Both teams will be happy with their performance. Punjab pulled it back towards the end and gave only 35 runs in the last five overs. On the other hand, Mumbai lost three wickets upfront and would be happy to get 186 runs on the board. The alliance between Gayle and Rahul will be crucial for Punjab.

  • So both teams have opted for experience for this crunch game. It hasn't been a good season for Yuvraj Singh nor Keiron Pollard. But big occasions get the best out of seasoned campaigners. Both players would know what the team expects from them.

  • Rohit Sharma: We were planning to bowl first too. The dew plays a big part in the second half. We want to play fearless cricket and not worry about the result. The next two games are very important but we are not thinking about the Delhi game yet. We will try and win those two points here today. Pollard comes back for Duminy.

  • R Ashwin: We would be bowling first and exploit the damp conditions here and try to chase down a target. Yuvi and Manoj Tiwary are in. Mayank is out and so is Nair. Mujeeb is not fit yet.

  • Kings XI Punjab Won the Toss & Elected to Field

  • Gayle averages 52.80 while playing Twenty20s at the Wankhede. Expect a Gayle-storm to hit Mumbai later tonight. If he gets going then there is no ground big enough for the Jamaican. Can Mumbai keep him under check? He was written off by franchises coming into this tournament. But Punjab punted on him and acquired his services. After waiting on the sidelines for the first few games, he announced himself by smashing bowlers all around the park. Here is what R Kaushik has to say for the T20 colossus

  • King Gayle is back and so is the swag

The Jamaican was beginning to seem like a fading light but his last two innings show otherwise

  • Punjab's batting has revolved around KL Rahul and Chris Gayle, the openers, this season. R Ashwin, the Punjab skipper, has urged his middle order to stand up at the business end of the tournament. Read it out here

  • R Ashwin the Kings XI Punjab captain came down heavily on the teams middle order Wisden India

R Ashwin the Kings XI Punjab captain came down heavily on the teams middle order and said it was time for them to deliver after their ten wicket hammering at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on Monday May 14

  • There have been players who have had a good run in this edition of the IPL, but there are a few who would have liked to perform better. Here are the players who will be expected to rise to the occasion in today's crucial encounter.

  • Rohit Ashwin Mayank Performance pending delivery

A look at the players who will be expected to rise to the occasion in MI v KXIP fixture at Wankhede

  • After a dream start to the IPL 2018, where they were briefly at the top of the table, Kings XI Punjab's fall has been rather alarming. They have suffered five losses in the last six games which has put their playoff aspirations on a thin thread. Mumbai, like the last few seasons, had a slow start but they recovered to win three games on the bounce before they succumbed to a loss against Rajasthan Royals. They still can make it to the final four if they win their last two league games which makes this contest with Punjab a very crucial one. Can Mumbai do it one more time?

  • Here is the preview of the game

  • MI Vs KXIP Match Preview Mumbai Indians Vs Kings XI Punjab Wisden India

Having begun their campaign in spectacular fashion with five wins from their first six games Kings XI Punjab have gone in the other direction in the last fortnight Five losses in their next six matches have edged them out of the top four for the first time in IPL 2018 and R Ashwins men find themselves in a desperate mid table scramble for a place in the last four

  • We are half an hour away from the toss in what would be the final home game for Mumbai Indians before the playoffs begin in the city of dreams. Mumbai had a very underwhelming time this season at the Wankhede, winning only two of the six games that have happened here thus far. It is a must-win situation for them against Kings XI Punjab tonight. Will the home team pull something out of the hat again?
